Zoom out - Zoom in - Zoom out (3rd trimester)

Teachers : Pascal Hersen, Ariel Lindner, Andrew Murray, Claire Ribrault and David Tareste

This series of seminars is split into two equal parts. (i) The students present a detailed interdisciplinary research project (this can be the subject of their PhD proposal) with theoretical/modeling and experimental approaches as a 3 years grant application. (ii) Using a scientific book as a starting point, students (in groups of 3-4) present the main thesis of the book (15 min). This is complemented by their own critical review of the book and presentation of the open questions and controversial points of view the book has raised (30 minutes). The speakers then organize a scientific debate by asking randomly to other students in the audience to give their opinion on the topic (45 min).

Guidelines

- A short debriefing of the presenters by the AIV teachers will take place after the seminar.
